Euch erwarten inspirierende Vorträge, ArtistTalks, LiveDrawing, persönliche Workshops, eine Künstler-Merch-Area, Portfolio-Reviews und viele Gelegenheiten, euch mit anderen Illustrator*innen zu vernetzen.
Egal, ob ihr am Anfang eurer Karriere steht oder bereits Profis seid, ob ihr in der Buchillustration, Werbung, im Game Design oder in der Animation arbeitet – dieses Event ist für euch!
Lasst uns gemeinsam unser Handwerk feiern, neue Techniken entdecken, Künstlerkolleg*innen treffen und einfach einen kreativen Tag genießen.
IllustrationDay geht in die 5. Runde – und ist größer als je zuvor! In neuer Location, WESTSpace – Alte WU, mit mehr Platz und noch mehr Möglichkeiten zum Austausch, freuen wir uns darauf, diesen Tag unvergesslich zu machen.

Workshop 1: Character Design with Sam Nassour

In diesem Workshop lernen wir die wichtigsten Prinzipien des Charakterdesigns kennen – von Formensprache über Mimik bis zur Farbgestaltung. Wer diese Elemente versteht, kann Figuren erschaffen, die lebendig wirken, fesseln und im Gedächtnis bleiben.
Sam Nassour is an Art Director and Visual Development Artist in the animation and game industries based in Helsinki. He has worked with studios like Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Netflix and Rovio Entertainment. Passionate about character design and illustration, he also develops personal projects, including writing and creating a graphic novel.
Workshop 2: Animal Illustration
layer based workflow from sketch to final rendering mit Fiona zeichnet Deutsch/Englisch

In diesem Workshop zeigt euch @fionazeichnet ihren Workflow von der Idee, zur Skizze, zu Farbvorschlägen bis hin zur finalen Illustration. Ihr Ebenenworkflow ermöglicht ihr schnell viele Farb- und Lichtvariationen zu kreieren, sowie im Nachhinein einfach Änderungen vorzunehmen. Dies ist besonders praktisch beim Arbeiten mit Kunden oder auch wenn Illustrationen animiert werden sollen. Für den Workshop benötigen Teilnehmende ein iPad, Apple Pencil und Procreate (Leihgeräte auf Anfrage möglich).
Fiona hat einen Ort des Lernens, Austausches, Verstehens sowie der künstlerischen Entfaltung kreiirt. Das Augenmerk liegt am Erlernen von Zeichengrundlagen, um mit diesen erworbenen Fähigkeiten in der Lagezu sein, eigene Ideen umsetzen zu können.
Workshop 3: Storytelling in Comics

Lerne wie man Stories durch Comic-Bilder richtig erzählt und aufbaut. Comic-Zeichner André Breinbauer (Medusa und Perseus) zeigt euch an Hand einer vorgegebenen Story wie ihr diese in Panels umsetzt und zum leben bringt.

This year, we are hosting the event at WESTSpace in the Alte WU, Vienna for the first time.
You can reach us by public transport via U6 – Spittelau station or Tram D / 38 – Liechtenwerder Platz.
If you are arriving by car, a paid parking garage is available on-site.

Im regulären Ticketpreis sind der Eintritt zu unserer Eventlocation, zur Merch-Area, Portfolio-Reviews (bitte voranmelden!) und natürlich die Teilnahme an allen Talks und Punkten des Hauptprogramms, sowie die Teilnahme am gemütlichen Abendausklang dabei.
Nur unsere Face-to-Face-Workshops in Kleingruppen sind mit 15,– extra zu buchen und zu bezahlen. Die Workshop-Tickets
sind nur in Kombination mit einem Eintrittsticket gültig!
Das Event ist gemischt auf Deutsch und Englisch, die Hauptsprache des jeweiligen Programmpunktes ist am Programm vermerkt. Alle unsere Speaker und Mitarbeiter*innen sprechen gut Englisch und können Fragen beantworten.

Das Ticket kann bis 7 Tage vor dem Event storniert werden, wir behalten 5,– Stornogebühr ein, der Rest wird zurücküberwiesen. Du kannst das Ticket an eine andere Person weitergeben. Für die Stornierung sende uns eine e-mail an hello@austrianillustration.com.

The regular ticket includes entry to the event location, access to the merch area, portfolio reviews (please register in advance), participation in all talks and main program sessions, as well as the relaxed evening get-together.
Small-group workshops are not included and cost €15 extra. These tickets are only valid in combination with a regular admission ticket.

The event will be a mix of German and English. The main language for each program item is indicated in the schedule. All our speakers and staff speak good English and are happy to answer questions.
